This thesis research is titled "Legal Protection for Debtors Against the Forced Repossession of Motor Vehicles by Debt Collectors (A Study of Judgment No. 393/Pdt.G/2021/PN.Mdn)." The problem formulations are: (1) What are the legal regulations governing the financing relationship between consumers and leasing companies regarding the repossession of motor vehicles serving as fiduciary security objects? (2) What forms of legal protection are available to consumers against the forced repossession of motor vehicles by leasing companies, based on Judgment No. 393/Pdt.G/2021/PN.Mdn? (3) What were the legal considerations of the Panel of Judges at the Medan District Court in granting legal protection to the consumer in Case No. 393/Pdt.G/2021/PN.Mdn? The research method employed is normative-juridical legal research, utilizing a descriptive-analytical approach. The problem approaches used include the statutory approach and the conceptual approach. The data utilized consists of both primary and secondary data. The research results indicate that: (1) Legal regulations concerning leasing include Minister of Finance Regulation No. 84/PMK.012/2006 on Financing Companies, Minister of Finance Decree No. 1169/KMK.01/1991 on Leasing Activities, and Financial Services Authority (OJK) Regulation No. 29/POJK.04/2014 on the Conduct of Financing Company Business. (2) Legal protection against the forced repossession of motor vehicles by leasing companies encompasses both preventive and repressive protections, implemented through regulations regarding financing agreements, fiduciary security, and court-based dispute resolution mechanisms. (3) The legal considerations of the Medan District Court Panel of Judges in Judgment No. 393/Pdt.G/2021/PN.Mdn were that, since the Plaintiff's claim was partially granted, the Defendants were declared the losing party and were consequently ordered to pay the court costs. This thesis recommends that leasing companies refrain from arbitrarily forcibly repossessing motor vehicles from individuals or legal entities without prior notification or explanation from the company.
