Abstract

Abstract
Culture is the complex whole, belief, art, morals, law, customs, and other capabilities acquired by a person as a member of society. The meaning of culture literally comes from the Latin word Colere which means working the land, cultivating, maintaining the fields. (according to Soerjanto Poespowardojo 1993). Culture is the whole system of ideas and the results of human work in the context of community life which is made human by means of learning. As a source of the latest and inexpensive historical subjects, arouse interest, and engage with past cultural events. in wongsorejo village, there is one culture, namely the Ponar Ritual culture. This Ponar ritual has many meanings that can be used as a learning resource. With this background, the title of this thesis is "The Meaning of the Ponar Ritual During the Application Procession in the Madurese, Wongsorejo Village".
