Shift in the meaning of the spray of Utik in the delivery of the corpse to the grave in Wonosobo

Abstract

Along with the times from the traditional to the modern, there are still quite unique socio-religious phenomena. This unique phenomenon exists in the Wonosobo Village area. The people of Wonosobo Village in the procession of delivering corpses to the graves still believe in the existence of spray utik. From this it can be seen that people have their own beliefs so they still want to maintain and carry out these traditions. To reveal the above phenomenon, the researcher formulates the problem as follows. (1) What is the meaning contained in the tradition of sembur utik? (2) How is the otic spray tradition implemented? (3) What is the view of Islamic law in the tradition of sembur utik?. Based on this formulation, this study aims to determine the meaning, procession, and views of Islamic law on the implementation of the sembur utik tradition. To answer the questions above, this research was designed with a qualitative descriptive field research design, by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that in the tradition of sembur utik it has a basic meaning, the values ​​contained and has experienced a shift in its implementation.
