Abstract
In the educational reform contest, there are three main issues that need to be highlighted, namely, the lack of student leadership attitudes, improving the quality of learning, and the effectiveness of learning methods. The learning process is a process of interaction between students and teachers as teachers, the learning process is carried out using pedagogy which includes teaching strategies and methods. The learning process carried out by many educators today tends to achieve the target curriculum material, more concerned with memorizing concepts rather than understanding. This can be seen from the learning activities in the classroom which are always dominated by the teacher in delivering material, usually the teacher uses the lecture method, students just sit, take notes, and listen to what the teacher says, and there are few opportunities for students to ask questions. Thus, the learning atmosphere is not conducive, so students become passive. History learning in schools has not progressed as expected. Teachers tend to use learning techniques that are theoretical in nature, so that learning activities are rigid, monotonous, and boring. Efforts to improve the ability to lead groups of students cannot be separated from the various factors that influence it. In this case, creative teachers are needed who can make learning more interesting and liked by students. The classroom atmosphere needs to be planned and built in such a way by using the right learning model so that students can get the opportunity to interact with each other so that the goal of increasing group leadership attitudes in students can be achieved. Based on the problems that exist in learning History in schools, it is necessary to formulate a good learning method in order to improve students' leadership qualities in leading study groups. Some of the assumed learning methods are the jigsaw type cooperative learning model and the reciprocal learning model, especially in improving reading skills. The jigsaw learning model is a cooperative learning model that groups students into learning teams consisting of 4 to 6 students. The material will be presented in text form and each student is responsible for mastering the learning material section and is able to teach these materials to other team members. In the jigsaw type of cooperative learning model, students are given the opportunity to collaborate with other friends in the form of group discussions to solve a problem. While in reciprocal learning students are given the opportunity and freedom to ask questions, predict and respond to what has been read. Reciprocal learning can improve reading comprehension and encourage student collaboration, responsiveness and leadership.
