Abstract

Tradition is everything that exists in people's lives and is carried out from generation to generation. There are many traditions that exist in Indonesia, all of which have their own characteristics in each region, such as the ruwatan tradition. Ruwatan is a tradition that is carried out to eliminate sengkala or bad things in a person. In modern times, the Javanese and the Using tribe still believe in the ruwatan tradition. But there is a difference in it. So that is what makes it unique in the ruwatan tradition. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with the main sources consisting of traditional stakeholders (elders), community leaders and people being treated, while secondary data sources were obtained through documentation and literature study. Data collection techniques used interviews, observation and documentation.
