In the present study, the influence of Smart Board technology on learning effectiveness of learning processes in maritime vocational higher education institution where the effective visualization of theoretical training is an essential requirement before practical training on simulators is being examined. The study aims to investigate the influence of Smart Board application directly and indirectly on the learning effectiveness and students’ learning experience respectively. For the purpose of the study, a quantitative cross-sectional causal-correlational research design was employed through surveying 125 active diploma undergraduate students from Jakarta Maritime Higher Education Institution. The participants of the study were selected through purposive sampling method since of their direct exposure to Smart Board use. The application of Smart Board has been found to significantly affect the learning effectiveness (β = 0.476, p < 0.001, f² = 0.360) and the learning experiences of students (β = 0.630, p < 0.001, f² = 0.658). Furthermore, learning experiences have a significant effect on learning effectiveness (β = 0.396, p < 0.001, f² = 0.250). Furthermore, learning experience plays a role as mediator for the relationship between the use of Smart Board and learning effectiveness (β = 0.250, p < 0.001, VAF = 34.4%). The model explains 62.1% of variance in learning effectiveness (R² = 0.621). Hence, it is concluded that use of Smart Board affects the learning effectiveness of students both directly and mediately.
