PUBLIC SERVICE INNOVATION BASED ON THE FECES SUCTION (SENJA) APPLICATION TO SUPPORT SCHEDULED FECAL SERVICES IN SURABAYA CITY

Abstract

This population growth has various consequences for several regions, especially in the provision of basic services such as clean water, and sanitation. Several government programs combine infrastructure development such as always live in a clean and healthy environment free from disease. The city of Surabaya consistently ranks very high, approaching 100%, demonstrating the successful complete elimination of the practice of open defecation, which was then realized through achieving Open Defecation Free (ODF) status. All of these efforts underpin the innovative strategy of Scheduled Septic Tank Services. To optimize the implementation of this program, the Surabaya City government launched an innovative application called Senja (Faces Suction) to facilitate the public in ordering septic tanks online. The Senja application is not only a public service tool, but also an educational instrument that fosters an environmentally conscious sanitation culture. Therefore, this study aims to examine Senja Application innovation as a form of optimizing the Scheduled Fecal Sludge Service program in Surabaya city by using the innovation theory in the characteristics of innovation according to Rippetoe & Rogers, 1987 in (Prabowo et.al, 2022:42-43). This study used descriptive-qualitative method. This study's results explain that the Senja Application service innovation in optimizing the Scheduled Fecal Sludge Service owned by the Surabaya City Water Resources and Highways Agency has been running although in its implementation there are still obstacles so that the innovation cannot be said to be prime
