OPTIMIZING THE USE OF PRINCIPAL PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT FEATURES IN THE INDEPENDENT TEACHING PLATFORM IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Abstract

This study aims to describe the optimization strategies undertaken by school principals in using the performance management feature on the Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM), the involvement of the District Education Office, and its impact on teacher performance in elementary schools of Sekadau Hilir District. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis involving principals from four public elementary schools. The findings indicate that school principals optimized PMM features by guiding teachers, forming internal support teams, using reflection data for training planning, and engaging learning communities. The Education Office played an active role in conducting socialization, technical training, data-based monitoring, and policy issuance to support PMM usage. As a result, teacher professionalism improved, particularly in lesson planning, self-reflection, and educational technology integration. The study concludes that the synergy between school principals and the Education Office is essential for the effective implementation of PMM in enhancing performance management and learning quality in elementary.
