Quality Test Of Biobriquettes Made From Tobacco Waste And Sugarcane Bagasse Adhesive With Cassava Stems

The increasing demand for energy and the problem of agricultural waste encourage the use of biomass as an environmentally friendly alternative energy source. Tobacco stalk waste and sugarcane bagasse are lignocellulosic biomass materials with potential as raw materials for biobriquettes; however, their quality is influenced by the material composition and binder application. This study aims to analyze the quality characteristics of biobriquettes made from tobacco stalk waste and sugarcane bagasse using cassava adhesive and to determine the optimal composition that produces the best quality. This study used an experimental method with four composition variations. Tests were conducted on moisture content, ash content, calorific value, fixed carbon content, volatile matter content, and combustion time. This method serves to evaluate briquette quality based on established quality standards. The results showed that composition variations significantly affected all quality parameters. Variation 4 produced the best quality with a moisture content of 10.10% and an ash content of 7.27%, indicating characteristics closest to quality standards. Utilizing tobacco stalk waste and sugarcane bagasse as biobriquettes has great potential as a renewable alternative energy source while providing an environmentally friendly and economically valuable solution for agricultural waste management
