Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group counseling with modeling techniques to improve the emotional intelligence of students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Gambiran. The research design used was nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The study population is all students of class XI IPS amounted to 105 students. The sample of this research is 20 people. The research instrument used is emotional intelligence questionnaire. This research proposes two hypotheses. Hypothesis I which reads "Counseling group with effective modeling techniques to improve the emotional intelligence of students of class XI IPS SMA Negeri 1 Gambiran" with the result thit> ttab (19.909 <2.262) which means Ha accepted; and hypothesis II which read "There is difference of effectivity between experiment group and control group in improving emotional intelligence of student of class XI IPS SMA Negeri 1 Gambiran" which based on result of research turns out this hypothesis accepted.
